Large car parks around the pub
Called in for a table for 2 with the dog
Pub does get busy so advisable to pre book
Service was outstanding, food arrived and was presented superbly and tasted excellent
Plenty of choices from the menu and a well stocked bar
One of the best meals we've had for the price
Would definitely recommended the pub

A fabulous Inn. Fantastic team.. Harmony and Henry serving at the bar and food during the afternoon and night. Also the housekeeping chap, serving breakfast, so polite. A delightful stay! The room and bathroom perfect, so clean. A lovely view from our room! Very popular pub/bar! Highly recommend.

This is definitely a locals pub that is busy but very friendly.
The beer was top notch.
Was also had shepherds pie that was absolutely delicious.
I should also add that the pub is dog friendly and extremely welcoming

You can't beat a Sunday roast, even better when it's cooked for you and there's no dishes to do. Brandon and his team do a fantastic job.

We spent a night at the Canal Inn over the bank holiday for a change of scenery. Well located if you're looking to do a walk (multiple options of varying lengths). We did the Fritchley Crich Loaf Loop which conveniently included a stop at the pub.
The Canal Inn had a friendly and welcoming atmosphere - there's a well established local community which you felt part of coming in, even if you were only staying a night. We enjoyed a Sunday roast/pie of the day and breakfast the next morning, both of which were great (and very generously sized!).
Our room was clean, spacious and very comfortable. There was a nice selection of biscuits, tea, coffee and hot chocolate, plenty of hanging space and great water pressure in the shower.
What really topped off our stay was the wonderful staff. Bar, kitchen, housekeeping and management were all excellent and honestly couldn't have done more for us. We'd definitely stay again when visiting the area and would recommend others do the same.

Amazing experience, we spent 2 nights recently on the B&B deal with dinner one night. Food was beautiful, rooms were lovely and the air con was definitely a welcomed touch. The staff worked tirelessly and were so friendly and accommodating. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend or return.

I stayed here for a night when on a five day cycling tour.
The staff were great, check in quick and helpful, they showed me somewhere to leave my bike, etc.
The rooms were really good. A very high quality conversion/renovation has been carried out. Great bed and really really good shower.
I didn’t have the food but it looked good.

We are lucky to have The Canal as our local and never been disappointed by the food. It can get busy, and you might have a wait if it is, but it is a small local pub (with rooms). Part of the Moorwood chain (Horse & Jockey, Hurt Arms, White Hart) and maintains the same good standards. Nice beer garden which gets the sun in the afternoon and usually a bouncy castle in the garden for kids during the summer. Sometimes has a band on. Would recommend the Thursday pint and pizza (or burger) deal.

Massively impressed by the room I stayed in for the price paid, very recently renovated. Also taken up to room by attentive staff. Although it's a local pub it quietened down towards evening and no difficulty sleeping. More like a hotel with a bar in some respects. Would certainly consider again.

Thank you so so much to everyone at the Canal for making my stay the night before the wedding exceptional and the morning of totally stress free!!
The pre-bridal suite was fantastic, lots of space for me & my bridesmaids. Really beautiful hamper full of goodies (face masks, toiletries & snacks). Really huge comfy bed, gorgeous bathroom with walk-in shower & separate bath! Air-con an absolute god send!
Special shout out to Ryan & his partner (sorry I can’t remember your name) who both worked on the bar at the Canal the night before I got married and then at the Hurt arms during my wedding.
The pizza & pint on Thursday evening was great value for money, super tasty & fresh ingredients. Excellent service.
Friday morning the day of the wedding breakfast was served in lovely hampers to the room so we didn’t have to worry about getting dressed when make-up & hair started at 6am.
Thank you, Thank You again to all at the Canal!!
