Very nice carvery lovely chap serving it .......but we booked a table and when we arrived there seemed to be some confusion between 2 members of staff and our 'Booked' table had been given to someone else and we had to be put into the room at the back which is used for people with dogs. so a bit dissapointing that the table booked was not available to us.

We enjoyed our relaxing lunch at The Excavator. 11 of us rucked up on a Saturday lunch and we were warmly welcomed by the team. Drinks were table serviced pretty well but It took a while for them to come back to order our food. Once we ordered, despite the large group, it wasn't long at all. All of us enjoyed our meals and it will be a good place to stop again when we are in the area.

Excavator is always an excellent place to eat! Lovely staff and amazing food! Always clean and tidy and quick service! I did not get the young ladies name who served us tonight but she had short pinkish hair and was up for a laugh! — always nice when working in customer service myself! We went in with 2 dogs, and they had a separate dog friendly area. The food was great, and the service was with a smile 😃. The beer was good but a bit expensive. The food, however, was value for money

I really enjoyed the carvery the turkey is beautifully cooked. Lots of choice the staff are really polite and helpful . I like the fact that u have vegan ice cream. Which helps me choose my desserts. Which on both times I have enjoyed my desserts. I personally thanked the chef when I saw him the first time we came. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and I look forward to next time . Vegetarian options: Good choice Dietary restrictions: There was a dairy free ice cream so I could have dessert. Parking: Always parking spaces when I been there

The place was very clean (spotless) felt like it had recently been refurbed it was so nice. Service was great as well, 3 young people who never stopped for a moment serving. Food came out very quickly was perfect and all reasonably priced. Beer was great as well. Fantastic local place to go for a drink and meal. Highly recommended.

Was greeted and seated very quickly. When at the bar was served after another customer who had arrived after me- which was a bit annoying. 10 min queue for food but it was worth it! Food hot and delicious- I had a vegetarian option which was huge! Lots of waiting staff which was good as they were quick to help with wiping do the table and making sure we had cutlery etc- Will definitely return and nice to did a place which is dog Friendly- so will bring her next time! Vegetarian options: Good choice on vegetarian options- a nice dog and family friendly place!

A little slow to order food even tho it was empty, one of the staff members seamed oblivious to us even being there compared to the other but were both polite. Food was good, tasted fresh and large portions. Place was clean enough but the toilets need a good dust inside the cubicles.

I stopped off for a late lunch. The food was ok, not too expensive. The service could have been better, I was waiting at the bar for some time to be served, even though there were very few customers.

On entering the premises there's a pleasant vibe with country pub decor. The food was nice enough for the price that was paid however the service was poor the order was taken promptly that's when it all went wrong. We were a party of 7 mixed adults and children it should not be that difficult to serve all meals at the same time. We then had to find a member of staff to take our dessert order when this was brought they tried to put it on the table that had not been cleared. The server seems put out when we asked for the table to be cleared before they started the serve dessert. Our youngest granddaughter was very upset when they never brought her pudding and when it did turn up it was the wrong order. I have eaten there before when the food and service was better hopefully it was just a bad day for them.
